Tendering for bank services is admirable and to be recommended. Several sectors mandate their constituents to put their banking requirements out to tender every five years. However, many companies miss the opportunity to benefit from a "disconnect".
It is our belief that the first step in a tender is to reflect on where one is. It is essential to look closely at the business, assess the efficiency and reach a conclusion on what should be changed or updated. A tender will enable structural changes to be made, even if one stays with the same bank.
When a company merely adds up its transaction numbers and thinks this represents a tender, they are deluding themselves. In this way, inefficiencies are embedded, the result being an inefficient system, but cheaper.
